Unfair lockdowns on regional Australians has caused 'such heartache'

5 Просмотры
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack says a conversation about regional Australians and the unfair restrictions placed on their communities should have happened weeks ago.

Mr McCormack said the Victorian district The Mallee takes up one third of the state, 82,000 square kilometres, and has a total of thirteen COVID-19 cases.

“Much of that electorate is actually closer to Adelaide than it is to Melbourne and yet they have so many restrictions right now,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“It’s a situation that has caused such heartache.

“So many livelihoods and businesses now placed at risk because of the restrictions that that fine electorate is now under, and yet (they have) very limited cases, all very much in recovery mode.”
